—————— 0. Surfing was developed to visualize and analyze multivoxel activation patterns in fMRI data. Surfing differs from the usual approach of visualizing single voxel activation maps. Using multivoxel patterns and statistical methods, Surfing can extract more complex and detailed activation patterns from fMRI data. 1. To visualize these activation maps, Surfing uses the Matlab graphical user interface (GUI). For comparison, Surfing provides support for the Analyze program. 2. Surfing is based on a combination of the SURF (Speeded Up Robust Features) keypoint detector, a statistical algorithm to recognize parts of an activation map that are significantly different from the background, an image segmentation method that recognizes both single voxels and multivoxel patterns, and the regiongrowing imagesegmentation algorithm. The SURF keypoint detector is also used to obtain information about the boundaries of the multivoxel patterns. 3. The SURFkeypoint detector is not included in the Windows build. When you run Surf as an EXE, a graphical user interface starts that will guide you through the analysis process. 4. Surf initially recognizes single voxels, and then performs a localization and clustering step that groups similar voxels and their neighboring voxels, and eventually also allows for the grouping of some voxels into small clusters. After a validation step, with a simple anatomical template (provided in the Surfing distribution) as an input, the user determines the final extent of the activation maps and can then analyze the activated pattern. 5. A simple mathematical description is used to perform a linear support vector machine classification algorithm to identify linear activity patterns. Statistical parametric maps (SPMs) are used to analyze these data and to perform randomization tests. Surf uses the SPM toolbox. 6. Surfing provides support for data-driven exploratory data analysis using principal component analysis (PCA) to generate eigenimages. The SURF keypoint detection algorithm is used to obtain more detailed information about the multivoxel patterns. Surfing allows for a user-driven classification of the spatial distribution of activated voxels. The corresponding independent component analysis (ICA) approach is also supported. 7. The Surfing GUI was designed specifically for a fast and convenient operation. It contains an intuitive user interface that supports analysis workflows. Surfing also enables various additional functions such as localization, clustering and grouping, data reduction, classification of

This is tutorial about a toolbox, developed with MATLAB that helps to convert and read the Neuroimaging Data (.nii) files into Wavelet and Morphological (VOL) volumes. The tutorial also has a wavelet volume (.wav) file that shows the processing steps used to convert a NIfTI file to wavelet and morphological volumes. This tutorial starts from step one and ends at step 10. Conclusion:The.wav file contained in the zipped file “How to convert and read NIfTI-Wavelet-VOL files” This tutorial is developed with MATLAB (version 7 or superior) and “NIfTI” (short for Neuroimaging Informatics Technology) format, a neuroimaging file format that contains the information needed by the Neuroimaging Toolbox for MATLAB. SRF is a free, full-featured, and open source Matlab toolbox that implements surface-based information mapping (SBM) of the brain. The toolbox can be downloaded and used freely. The surface based information mapping (SBM) technique uses surface-based information for data analysis based on pre-defined anatomic regions of the brain. The results from the toolbox are referred to as surf-maps, which are analogous to images seen on the surface of a sphere. They can show the performance of an analysis in real-time over a user-defined brain region. The toolbox can also extract a semi-automated delineation of brain structures and automatically segment brain regions for groups of subjects for which a pre-defined template brain is available. What’s New in the Surfing?

Using a user-defined mask, a set of chosen voxels is isolated from the brain and its activity is subsequently analyzed in the context of a predefined trial. The key difference from other analysis methods is that Surf features a voxel-wise selection algorithm that enables the user to explore large regions of interest (ROIs) at the single voxel level. By isolating relevant voxels, Surf enables functional ROI analysis of the full 3D volume data sets, facilitating the exploration of many voxels in a single trial. Starting with a random set of voxels, Surf systematically expands this set, eliminating those voxels that do not support the trial conditions. If the voxels that remain are close to the main peak of the trial related signal, Surf reports this trial as a positive example and tries to isolate these voxels in the brain volume for further analysis. Downloads: Instructions: Surfing Toolbox is based on Poser v11, therefore you can install it directly from pomodoro-app/google-play/software-manager Surf v1.4 and Surf v1.5 and Surf v1.6 can be installed simultaneously without problems. Thank you. Your progress have been followed. I tried version 1.4, and found out that Matlab is missing in the packages,so I am downloading. I am working on v1.6,and my computer is slow. I downloaded the compressed file.I tried installing the compressed file into a folder called Surf-v1.4, but did not work. I started with your tutorial and followed it, and repeated the steps several times, but I do not seem to find the.m files. Can you help me out, please? I have successfully installed Surf v1.6. I’ve completed the tutorial steps in the article and have created some data. I also created a.mat file as mentioned in your tutorial. I am trying to follow the user guide but when I do the ‘run’ function, the code displays no output… not even as an error. Should I be looking for another file to run? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hi Grace, I am wondering how do you import the data that you downloaded to Matlab? I have successfully installed Surf v1.6. I’ve completed the tutorial steps in the article and have created some data. I also created
